Local Business Information
Central Oregon SOS has information for employers and employees. The Community section has lists of restaurants across Central Oregon that are offering take out or delivery and another list of which businesses are open.
Virtual Field Trips
- Lots of zoos and aquariums have webcams for their exhibits. Check out: San Diego Zoo, Atlanta Zoo, Houston Zoo, Georgia Aquarium, Monterey Bay Aquarium
- The Google Arts and Culture page has links to art museums and buildings that house lots of art (like the White House). You can take a street-view tour and do deep dives into some of the works.
- Take a virtual tour of the Great Wall of China
- Boeing has a virtual field trip of the Johnson Space Flight Center
Learning and Educational Games
- iCivics was founded by a group that includes former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor to teach kids about civics. There are lesson plans (sign up as a teacher) and games to play, including a game where you run a presidential campaign and have to decide how to spend the money and where to go.
- ABC Mouse has educational activities for younger kids. Use code SCHOOL7771
- Learning Games for Kids has a variety of educational games, videos, and lessons for a variety of ages.
- Scholastic Magazines has published free educational material on their website for K-9th grade.
- Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has free online courses for kids in grades K-12.
- Khan Academy continues to offer the same free online education they have always offered. We took big advantage of this when we were homeschooling.
Stuff to Watch
- The SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s award-winning children’s literacy website, Storyline Online, streams videos featuring celebrated actors reading children’s books alongside creatively produced illustrations. If you've ever wanted to listen to your favorite actor read a children's book, here's your chance.
- TED Ed has very entertaining educational videos for kids. Parents should check them out too.

- Kids Listen is a grassroots organization that promotes high-quality podcasts for children.
- Short and Curly is a fun and interesting ethics podcast for kids out of Australia. If you've ever wanted to listen to a debate on whether Albus Dumbledore is really good or bad, this is the podcast for you.
- Kidnuz is a podcast with 5 minutes of today's top stories, current events, politics, science, entertainment, sports, and more- all age appropriate and nonpartisan.

- National Geographic has a kids' page with videos, games, and other activities.

- Cassie Stephens is an art teacher in Tennessee who is posting videos of herself teaching art lessons for kids on Facebook.
- Josh Gad, the actor who voiced Olaf in the Frozen movies, is posting videos on his Twitter feed of him reading children's books with lots of great voices and accents. On Twitter look for #gadbookclub.
