Lori Brizee has been a Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist since 1983, and a Certified Diabetes Educator since 2015. She spent the first 22 years of her practice focusing on pediatric nutrition. She worked in public health for 2 years, followed by 20 years at Seattle Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center, where she focused on children with special healthcare needs. She became an expert on nutrition for children with kidney disorders, writing for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Pediatric Manual of Clinical Dietetics and speaking at several local and national conferences.
Lori moved to Bend, Oregon in 2006 and started a private nutrition practice, Central Oregon Nutrition Consultants, serving clients of all ages, who had a wide variety of nutrition concerns. Lori’s main focuses have been on diabetes, pre-diabetes, weight management and pediatrics. She has recently passed on her private practice and is now focusing on nutrition and diabetes with telehealth consulting, corporate wellness, teaching at Oregon State University, Cascades Campus, writing and speaking. Lori is also partnering with Dr. Beard-Irvine to see patients with nutrition concerns and teach some classes in Dr. Erika's clinic.
Lori has written many articles on nutrition topics for healthcare professionals as well as the general public. In 20ll, she published a book on feeding children called Healthy Choices, Healthy Children, A guide to raising fit, happy kids, published by Paraclete Press. Look for it in Dr. Erika's lending library.
